Tell Your Story On Purpose

I am a major believer in the power of story. It was stories that helped me heal my life, and I am always interested to hear other's stories because I believe that is where I will find my next spark of motivation to create. I believe that Nia demands that we tell our stories on purpose. Many allow for their story to be pieced together by the few, who want to understand them. Rather than doing the work and letting people know why you are like you are. So today take the time to look at and possibly begin to share your secret sauce, and by doing so give someone else permission to move into their greatness......

The greek philosopher, Aristotle said, "Drama is higher than history. History records what happened; drama records what will happen." The world has become a giant stage. This means there's no better time for you to share your story about what you do and why you do it. Your personal story is what will make you stand out in your community, and tribe. Rather than hiding it or being ashamed of it please share it. You never know who your narrative may free. Someone out there right now needs to hear what you are hiding and in many ways taking for granted. Sharing your story allows you to connect with people on a deeper, more meaningful level. It breaks through the natural barriers that may be standing within groups, and acts as a lubricant to get all parts working smoothly together. Sharing your story will expose you to the people who resonate with it, and who will feel compelled to join your cause by supporting and working with you. They will begin to see themselves in you and be inspired by the courage that you demonstrated. Here are a few questions for those that are doing the #NguzoSaba Challenge (writing prompts):

How do you use your personal story to connect with people?

What are you passionate about?

What was a defining moment in your life?

Where do you get your inspiration? And why is it important to you?

In the words of the great entrepreneur and motivational speaker, Simon Sinek, "people don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it." Engaging storytelling is key to finding and communicating a purpose. This requires taking the blinders off and honestly looking within yourself at what makes you truly happy. What are the core values you hold? With that knowledge…what's your next step? What's your dream? Your unique life purpose is waiting to be uncovered. Identify it and share it. Tell us your story!

Here is a list so that you can start exploring your story:

Explore your past

Look within yourself

Create a vision and walk in it!

Here is your proverb:

You can't tell the colour of somebody's cloth from his shadow.
