This week we are focusing on the principles and day names. Umoja means unity. That’s a familiar idea for many people, regardless of race or culture. But have you looked at the word from an African-American perspective? The African diaspora has had a complicated relationship with this principle through the ages––we accepted it, but we often struggled to practice it. Unity is key to building sustainable communities, societies, and even families. Umoja (unity) is a day set aside to be with family and friends and give back to the community. Umoja is more than just a word. It’s a way of life that you can bring into your personal space, wherever that may be. From our humble beginnings, The Daily Toast has become a powerful way to grow our Tribe and help each other build our physical, mental, and financial health and create a life of Peace Power, & joy.... Enough of that here is your proverb:
"When the river dries up, we will all see where the crocodile sleeps."
