In today’s show I want to talk about the concept of keeping the faith. Now, Imani means faith, and in order for us to win our struggle, we sometimes have to lean on faith. We have to trust in those unseen forces within us to get us through. No matter what you’re dealing with today, you can keep your faith. Sometimes in life you’ll be dealt blows and trials that are so unique to you that only you could ever understand. The deep emotional struggles and pain can be so intense that it feels like no one else has had to face what you are facing right now. But they have! We all have. And we all face them in our own way. Mention the word 'faith' to anyone and you are likely to get a variety of responses. For some it is a fundamentalist based response, for others it is a political one. Some have faith in their own abilities, others have faith in God. What does keeping the faith mean? What does it require of us? And who are we keeping faith with?
Here are some things that you can do to help you develop your Imani:
1. Find a mentor or a coach
2. Build your self confidence
3. Make goals and follow through
4. Have faith in your instincts
5. Never listen to people who discourage you
6. Set clear objectives
7. Restrain negative thoughts
Keeping the faith is a personal journey that we all need to fulfill. We all have different ways we handle trials and tribulations. I can talk about what has worked for me and plenty of others, but as an individual you have to work within your own experience to find what works. When you are faced with adversity and it seems like things will never get better, do not give up! There is a road ahead! You might not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel right now but trust that it is there. Having faith in something greater than yourself is a powerful tool in navigating our often difficult journeys.
